Happy Birthday, Mr. Carter

Today marks the day the greatest rapper alive was born - Mr. Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter.

I don't blog about my music tastes much, but if you know me personally you must know how much I love and respect Jay-Z. I've been a fan of his since I was 12! The first time I heard Reasonable Doubt I knew I had found something extraordinary. His music was reminiscent of the songs I grew up listening to and, as a writer, his way with words mesmerized me more than any other author.

Today I celebrate the birth of Jay-Z: the emcee, the mogul, the man, and an inspiration in my life.

"December 4th, a star was born. Clap for him."

  1. I will admit I was S-L-O-W to warm up to Mr. Carter. And I was a big fan of Nas in his early years - which is only to say that I am probably older than you LOL! - so when this no-name punk (Jay-Z) started dissing him, I banned Jigga from my CD player. LOL.

However, as the years have passed, I have come to have an acquired taste for him - mostly through my hubby who is a huge fan. One of the best concerts I ever went to in my life was a Jay-Z and Friends concert. My favorite J song is Lucifer and 99 problems is a close second. Oh, and when we got married, we walked into the reception to "Encore" LOL! (hubbys choice) But I like some of his new stuff a whole lot.
