Amanda Uprichard x Gwynnie Bee

Hi loves and hello spring fashion! Amanda Uprichard’s exclusive capsule collection for Gwynnie Bee launches this week. The new collection is a fun mix of vibrant colors that radiate springtime. Gwynnie Bee asked me and a couple other bloggers to be a part of the buzz by styling pieces from the collection. I took on this challenge because I wanted to step out of my comfort zone. The collection is filled with bold prints and your homegirl here prefers solid colors nine times out of ten.

At first glance, I was intimidated by the Wharton Dress. It’s unapologetically bright. But the more I stared at it, the more I appreciated its playfulness and use of color. The shape of the dress helped, too. I love a classic fit and flare. As an apple shape, this silhouette is one of my go-tos because it adds definition to my waist and accentuates my legs. The dress is true to size (I’m wearing the 4X) and available in sizes L (10-12) through 5X (30/32). I played up the splashes of pink in the dress by pairing with with bright fuchsia flats and a pinky-nude lipstick and blush.

Pink is my favorite color, so I was a little less intimidated of the Forever Top. I love the colorful spin on traditional Tartan. I’m usually not attracted to loud prints, but I love classic ones (tartan, polka dots, stripes, etc.) Is that weird? Probably. I’m wearing the 4X and I was pleasantly surprised by the fit. Normally I have to size up in non-stretch blouses, but the silky top has a relaxed fit in the stomach. The hi-low hem offers coverage in the back and skims the hips and upper thighs. I half tucked the top into medium wash boyfriend jeans and ruched up the sleeves for an dressy-casual, effortless look. I will definitely wear this again in the near future!

I’m really glad I tried on pieces that are bolder than my usual style. It was nice to experiment with something new and push myself out of my norm. Not too long ago, such styles didn't exist online or even in-store for extended sizes. For basically forever, plus size women have been told not to wear bright colors and clothes that make them stand out. Options were limited to plain, non form-fitting garments on the rack in the back of the store. Amanda Uprichard’s collection for Gwynnie Bee is lively, confident, and for all shapes and sizes. Click here to see more from Amanda Uprichard x Gwynnie Bee!
